arizona counseling for Postpartum moms & parents

Therapy for Postpartum Mom & Parents in Gilbert & Online

You don’t have to pretend to be okay

Pregnancy and the postpartum period are often described as joyful—but the truth is, they can also be incredibly hard.

If you're struggling with overwhelming emotions, anxiety, sadness, guilt, or disconnection after having a baby, you're not alone—and you're not failing.

It will get better.

As a therapist with advanced training in maternal mental health from Postpartum Support International, and as a mother who has experienced four pregnancies, three children, and two rounds of postpartum depression, I offer therapy that is informed by both professional expertise and lived experience (but as always, my experience is not your experience and your experience is what we privilege in our time together).

What you might be feeling

  • Happy one moment and rage-y the next, sad for seemingly no apparent reason, irritable at everything, or numb

  • Racing thoughts, panic, or constant worry about your baby

  • Guilt for not "enjoying every moment"

  • Feeling alone, isolated, and like you have lost yourself

  • Struggles with sleep, appetite, or concentration

  • Disconnection from your partner or baby

  • Grief around your birth experience or unexpected outcomes

  • Relationship challenges because you both are feeling tired and overwhelmed

These are all valid and treatable symptoms of perinatal mental health issues—not a reflection of your worth as a parent.

Whether you're weeks into parenting or still preparing to give birth, therapy can help you feel more grounded, understood, and supported.

We have a secret in our culture, and it’s not that birth is painful. It’s that women are strong.

how postpartum therapy can help

For moms...

Therapy can give you a space to:

  • Process your birth experience and expectations

  • Reconnect with your self again while honoring new parts of yourself that you are discovering through new motherhood

  • Manage anxiety, rage, and overwhelm

  • Help with traumatic or complicated postpartum emotions

  • Learn ways to calm your body and your mind when it all feels like too much

  • Create space for your emotional needs amid caregiving

  • Help with the feelings that come with returning to work or making decisions about parenting roles

You deserve support that honors both your mental health and your new role as a parent.

For parents...

The transition to parenthood can put immense strain on even the strongest relationships.

Couples therapy during the postpartum period can help you:

  • Improve communication, even with the inability to properly form a sentence after long, sleepless nights

  • Rebuild intimacy and connection

  • Help with the transition of a new baby, including the changing roles and responsibilities that come with it

  • Process resentment, fear, or grief together

  • Build a shared understanding of your needs, boundaries, and priorities

  • Give yourselves compassion that this is a stressful period of time on any relationship

Postpartum support for couples helps you move from surviving to reconnecting.

Research shows that within the first 3 years of becoming parents, relationship quality suffers for two-thirds of couples. This is normal. It will pass. And in the meantime, we can work together to help your relationship weather the storm.

You’re Not Alone—And You Don’t Have to Do This Alone

If you’re looking for a therapist who gets it—someone who knows both the clinical and emotional landscape of postpartum life—I’d be honored to support you.

You can also find free virtual support groups through Postpartum Support International to connect with others navigating similar experiences.

Let’s talk. Reach out today for a free consultation or to schedule your first session.
